Hi Gang:
I have been reading all the posts which, of late, have been aimed at
each other and frankly, I am puzzled. Yes, I am a 20 WPM extra
licensed and on cw, since 1946 but so what? That doesn't make me a
better CW operator. It is my actual "Hands On" or shall I say
"Fingers On" experience, that makes me either good or bad.. We are
accomplishing nothing by growling at each other. I, for one,
have just decided to go back to the basics. I dug out my old Blue Racer
Bug again (from 1950) and am using nothing else. I have
put my paddle away and believe it or not, I am having more fun than the
proverbial "Barrel of Monkies". I have to swallow my pride,
because anyone can send with a paddle, but using the old Blue Racer gets
us back to the basic skills that made this hobby what it
is when it comes to CW. I have made contacts with other bug ops that
make me eat some "Humble Pie" and that shows me where the
real value lies in CW. No matter what happens to our favorite mode, I
am going to keep operating on the bands in my favorite mode
even in between the SSB guys that will move in around us, and I will one
day, disappear into the sunset still beating on my old
Blue Racer.
