[Fists] Re: NCVEC Comment stats...or why are we wasting time talking about this, when BPL is going to wipe out Ham radio as we know it?

		Hi Dennis es the group,
Wayne K9DI es Patriot here. I'm just writing to thank Dennis
for his post and to let you know that I do not think of anyone as a
"welfare" Extra. Hell, if I did that I'd have to call myself one. ..:)
I too hope that the quote "op" unqote (WT8R) who slings labels around
gets his head out of his A**!! Dave, who died and left you in charge of
deciding what the purpose of FISTS is? Now, what could Tex Burdick
W5BQU label you as Dave? As Tex passed his licensing exam in 1930????
In front of a FCC examiner, probably had to draw schematics, and if
memory serves me the morse exam element was only 10 or 13 wpm? Perhaps,
Dave (WT8R) you should get off your high horse and get on the air some
more, but please, please don't elmer anyone until you get your
prejudices under control. Think about it, Tex is 103 years old gets on the
air everyday, on SSB only because he has little or no sensation left in his
fingers, and will talk to anyone and share his wonderful stories with them
regardless of their age, location or license class. I QSO'd with Tex a few
months back and he was kind enough to permit 3rd party traffic with my,
then, seven year old daughter. She still remembers that conversation
and we both treasure the QSL card from Tex. So who would I rather
emulate: Tex who is friendly and has probably done more as a good
steward for our hobby, or Dave who appears to be an elitist, hateful,
self-serving snob...Hmmmm...let me think about that one....Tex wins!!!!!
Tex WINS!!!!!
Dave WT8R, I don't know who your elmers were, but mine taught me
to be friendly and courteous at all times. Do you want to see a group
of ops willing to elmer and support new hams or encourage them to
homebrew or upgrade check out hamradiohelp on yahoogroups, or even check
out www.fpqrp.com and learn about a ham community that cares about and
for it's members. The Flying Pigs QRP Club International, to me, shows
what a true ham community should strive to be. It's like a big family
where we are all siblings with an equal say in how things shake down.
Dennis, you're right last I checked FISTS only
membership requirement was a love of Morse and a concern for it's perpetuation.
I don't know what the FCC, in it's "infinite" wisdom, will do.
However, I have a feeling things will change, AGAIN, and we hams will
have to live with it. BTW: WHY IN HELL, are we fighting over this crap
when the thing we really have to worry about destroying our hobby is
BPL??????
I'm gonna go get on the air....
