Paul,

First of all no one is "belittling the attempts of beginners"! As Chris
said, this is a debate, not an argument. I operate CW almost everyday. But
for 20 years (licensed for 25) I did not, it was only a couple of years ago
that I returned to CW. I was very grateful to the FISTS membership for
assisting me in "re-learning" the code. I know this continues today on the
FISTS calling frequencies, QRS is always encouraged and happens.

Having said all this, I might ask, and please don't take this the wrong way,
why are UK hams are entering into this debate? The UK has dropped the code
requirement, haven't they? At this point it seems to be a US debate.

Please, do not leave the group. You may not agree with what is being said,
but you have to agree that I have a right to say it, just as you do. We can
agree to disagree!
