Well after reading all the email about people having their first QSO, you made me go
digging thru my QSL cards
and I found it !!!! Wow it is hard to believe it was 29 years ago June 4,1974 my callsign
was WN9OSJ in
Indianapolis,IN.and the QSO was with WN8RCI in W.Virginia at 12:45AM.Freq 3.735Kc I had
waited for my ticket to arrive in the mail and if my memory serves me correct it took 4
weeks to show up in the mailbox. My Elmer gave me the Novice test.I had a Knight T-40
transmitter with about 5 transmit crystals and a Allied AX-190 receiver. I looked at my
license
all day and was very nervous about that first QSO so late at night I settled down enough
to turn on my radio equipment
and let it warm up( yes in those days radios glowed in the dark!!!) and answered a CQ from
WN8RCI and
made it thru my first QSO and as they say the rest is history. To this day after 29 years
of being a Ham Radio Operator
the hobby still makes me smile and and I enjoy so much.
