Remember Pearl Harbor!
Each year, on or about 7 December, the Historical Electronics Museum
Amateur Radio Club (W3GR, your Code Buddy coordinator) operates a
special event station, W2W, to commemorate the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Our QSL card features an SCR-270 antenna, the radar which detected
the incoming attackers. A warning was issued but unfortunately was not
heeded.
An SCR-270 antenna is now at the Historical Electronics Museum in Baltimore.
The SCR-270 radar was built in Baltimore by Westinghouse, the original
sponsor of our museum. (http://users.erols.com/radarmus/index.html)
This year we will operate W2W on 7 and 8 December.
CW & SSB operations will be in the General portions of the HF bands.
We will also attempt CW operations on 7.110 with our ex-USN TBL-13.
Operating hours will be from 0800 to 1700 Eastern Standard Time.
We will send a W2W QSL card and a certificate to anyone who sends a
large (9x12) SASE, or just the card to those who send a small SASE.
