Have only been a ham since 1972 but I have noticed some changes. The
local ham club is down to 40 members (from 150 , 20yrs ago) and is just
a 2meter club now. The dx pile ups on phone are really nasty at times
now , so much so that I have just abt given up on that dubious sort of
fun. The average level of technical knowledge has dropped quite a bit in
the ham ranks and cw has taken a hit for sure.
These days I find enjoyment using 17-20wpm cw and sometimes qrp cw. Last
week I worked 9a2hf at 14.058 and was later chided by a friend who said
"Hasent everyone worked him?"
For me he was new and thats the fun of cw.
My new years resolution was not to get upset about change but to adapt
and above all to enjoy the hobby.
