Later this month the ARRL board of directors will consider the matter to
eliminate the Novice bands and expand the phone segments of 80, 40 and 15
meters. That expansion would come from the present CW/Digital allocations in
those bands.

Eight of the fifteen board members must vote "yes" for this study panel
recommendation to become an official ARRL proposal to the FCC. While the FCC
doesn't give the ARRL everything that it asks for, they generally do not put
up a fight on matters internal to the hobby itself, like these band
allocations. My guess is that if this passes the board, we will see it
become reality very soon.

Here's your chance to "be heard" about a matter that will directly affect
the CW operator.

Please contact your ARRL Director at once and let them know how you would
like them to vote on this matter. Don't use emotion, simply tell them how
much you enjoy CW and how you think this may be detrimental to the future of
the amateur service. Please do this even if you believe that the League is
in cahoots with the devil himself and nothing that you say will matter ...
it does matter and we can make a difference.
