Will,
I second what Jim is saying. Put down the pen and start to head copy as
soon as possible. You don't have to do it in a real QSO at first, but the
sooner the better. You are just now at the threshold where CW becomes "conversational"
and once over that hump you will be good to go to 20 and beyond.
You are definitely on the right track getting on the air regularly. Real
QSOs are harder generally than computer trainers because of the variability,
but obviously are the most meaningful training for you.
Another trick is to leave the radio tuned to CW QSOs in the background while
you do other tasks. One of those pocket code tutors can work this way, too.
A lot gets absorbed in your brain even when it's a background task.
I'll keep an ear out for you on the bands.
