I think it started before the Viet era. The gradual decline in family values 
and honesty is the real root. My father always said that you were only worth 
your word, and that's all you really had. Now people find it so easy to lie 
it is no longer considered bad. How many folks do you know under the age of 
40 who have only been married once, or are, for that matter, married at all 
but still have children. These same kids are the ones we are complaining 
about all the time. They have raised themselves without the guidance of 
fathers to teach them honesty, mechanical works, and what it REALLY means to 
be a man and the responsibility that goes with it. They do not have the 
relationship with mothers who now work and flit from man to man as easily as 
a channel scan. It used to be shushed up when someone got a divorce or was 
pregnant and unmarried. Now, divorce is so common that soon you will get a 
divorce license  when you get your marriage ticket. Much the same way that 
you will get your ham license in the box with that spiffy do it all know 
nothing rig you buy in the future. I'm sorry to tell you, but the deal is 
done and was done awhile back. We HAVE met the enemy and he truly IS us, 
because we sit on or butts and put up with all this stuff through the years 
and never do a single thing but complain. Just say God in school and see what 
happens. Even Santy Claus is becoming illegal. So will CW in the future. I 
don't care who says it won't. All the  things that are happening now in ham 
radio were foretold a few years ago when this crap started. Right here ON 
THIS VERY REFLECTOR indignant hams said no it won't happen, they NEED CW, 
they need US, they won't change the bands. Guess again....they don't "need" 
us OR CW. I hate to be one who sez "I told you so" but there it
