I also disagree with bonus points being awarded for the VHF/UHF stations.
However, I disagree with most of the bonus points that are awarded. What do
most of these categories have to do with emergency preparedness? Small
operations find it difficult to take the time to get achieve these garbage
points but you have to try if your going to be competitive. Coping the ARRL
message and 100% emergency power seems to make sense in that its along the
line of emergency operation.
Why don't the 1 transmitter class stations get the free VHF/UHF station?
Had a great time this year at Field Day and looking forward to the next.
Even with some of the disagreement as to how things should be done I think
its the best contest of the year.

I disagree strongly about a need for bonus points for VHF/UHF contacts. You
already get that as a free station, at least as long as you're at least a 2A
station. The more contacts you make, the better off you are. Sometimes,
especially at that time of the year, you get really good openings on 6 and
even on 2 and 440. One year, my club made over 200 QSOs on 6 because of a
great F2 opening.
