Ran 1-E (battery QRP) and discovered that my monsterous 300 AH "float"
battery
had sunk. Out to the TR-8 (a small British sports car that looks like a
doorstop with
wheels) and used that battery until it packed it in. Out to the backup
"whole house"
generator and used the starting battery whilst a smaller generator
charged the TR-8
battery again. When the generator starting battery checked out, back to
the TR-8
battery until I ran out of steam and got a few winks. TR-8 battery
sufficient to
complete the FD. Activity dropped at 1800, worked only a few stations
until 2100.
Ran 20m CW with a bit of 15m CW. 10m was moribund.
Listened to 6m and noted an opening from here (FN00 near Pittsburgh, PA)
into
New England. Uncommon for such a short hop. Noted a real catfight on
50.130
where a number of Texans had staked out "turf." Usual pipeline into Fla
on 6m.
A question: What is the idling (air conditioning on) fuel consumption
per hour
of a 5.4L Ford gasoline truck engine?
73, 72 to all
