[FCARC] Meeting minutes 10/21/24

10/21/24: The meeting was called to order at the Wauseon Municipal Building Firemen's Training Room, 230 Clinton Street, Wauseon, OH 43567 at 7:00 pm by Bryan Patterson (KB8ELG). 19 members and guests were in attendance, introductions were made and the Pledge of Allegiance was given by all. 

Silent Key: none

Members in Distress: W8TUX continued treatment. KE8BHW recovering from open heart surgery.

Corrections to Minutes from Previous Meeting: none

FCARC member introductions per new people attending the meeting.

Treasurer's Report: reported by KE8ITJ. Balance and deposits reported. Motion to approve: KE8VFR/KC8HDG. Approved

50/50 drawing every meeting to benefit FCARC. KC8HDG tonight’s winner.

Duplexers: plan to install soon by KB8MDF and KB8ELG

Meeting with Wauseon Commissioners 10/15/24 9:00am. 11 members in attendance. FCARC honorably recognized as crucial to Wauseon per service to area, a 70 year old club, and 50 years as federally recognized 501c3 in 2025.

Tour of Racquetball Club in Wauseon– possible future site for hamfests.

October Ham and Coffee (portable HF) was held Saturday October 12, 1030am to 1:00pm at the York Township Park, SW Corner of County Road 10 and E. November Ham and Coffee will be Saturday November 9 weather permitting, location TBA. 

FCARC 2024 Winter Hamfest will take place Saturday December 7 at Ruihley Park Pavilion.  FCARC members arrive 6:00 am-7:00am to set up. Vendors arrive at 8:00 am. General admission at 9:00 am. 

2024 Christmas Party will be held at Wauseon Rotary Club, 600 Wood Street, Wauseon OH on Saturday December 28 at 6:00PM. Potluck with other catered dishes. Please connect with KE8OKA with what you would like to bring.

Wauseon Christmas Parade will occur Saturday November 23 at 7:00PM. Help is requested, minimum of 6 people, maximum of 11 people. Please meet at the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce at 6:00 PM. 

Trustee to oversee repeater. N5XDM has volunteered. Motion to approve: KE8RU/KC8HDG. Approved

Proposed FCARC Scholarship: Nelles Roth College Scholarship for Electronics. ~$500/year. 50/50 raffle to fund? Will continue to discuss

Request put out for anyone who would like to be nominated for an office within FCARC in 2025 and new net control operators. KE8BHW has announced he will not be running again for VP in 2025. Thank you Lee for your service in 2024. Thank you to N5XDM for stepping up to be a net control operator quarterly for Emergency Services Net. 

Should Lead VE be an elected position? Will continue to discuss. 

KB8ELG: nothing political to be posted to FCARC social media. 

Wauseon City Employees Christmas Dinner will be held at the Red Rambler building. A request was made for our club to contribute $50 to cover the cost of their bartender. Motion by N5XDM/KC8HDG. Approved.

VE Testing: The club gives testing at 10:00 am the last Saturday of each month at the Wauseon Administration Building Firemen's Training Room, 230 Clinton Street, Wauseon, OH 43567. Contact Sandra Schwind KE8UTX if interested. Her email address can be found on the k8bxq.org website under the VE Testing section.


Saturday morning breakfast at the Delta 109 at 9:00 AM, in downtown Delta, OH.


The next regular club meeting will be 11/18/24 7:00PM at the Wauseon Municipal Building Firemen's Training Room, 230 Clinton Street, Wauseon, OH 43567.

A motion to adjourn was made by KE8UJA and seconded by KC8HDG all were in favor.  KB8ELG closed the meeting at 8:33pm
