ARRL Field Day is 8 weeks out! Amazing how the time has flown by this
spring, but the bustle of the Field Day weekend will be here before we know
it. Field Day 2021 will be June 26 and 27. Plan on setting antennas on
June 25. The contest runs 24 hours, starting at 2pm EDT. We operate under
the club call sign K8BXQ.
Latest rules are here:

The ARRL landing page is here: http://www.arrl.org/field-day
This will be the first of many emails on this particular topic, but there
are several items I would like the club to consider for this year:
1. we have a number of new members who are going to be new to contesting
and new to HF in general. jumping right in can be compared to baptism by
fire, but it does not have to be that way. I would like to return to the
notion of having a GOTA station setup. (see packet rules at the ARRL
website).
2. due to the pandemic last year, we had almost no bonus points for
education, public PR, etc. I am going to be reviewing those to see which
ones make sense to chase after.
3. Last, if you are considering running, even for a short time, please drop
me a line on the modes you are thinking of using (Phone/CW/Digital) the
antenna type you are bringing, and the bands you are capable of running
in. Also, let me know if you are planning on setting up for the full
contest.
Don't have a rig and want to run anyway? Let me know and we'll pair you up
with another station.
For everyone new to Field Day, don't let how official all of this sounds
scare you away. We have a great time every year and it is actually quite
laid back.
