Hello everyone, here are some notes from the Monday night Club meeting:
The meeting was called to order at 7:32pm with 17 members and guests. Minutes
from the previous meeting and the treasurer's report were read and accepted.
Committee reports follow...
Education: The VE Team held a testing session on August 30, serving two
candidates and issuing two new Technician Class completions. No calls have been
made to reserve the September test session yet.
Repeater Committee: The primary repeater is still operating well, and we had a
lengthy discussion on putting the PA back into service. KB8ELG reports to have
all required components, but just needs some bench time to replace the damaged
components. It was inquired as to whether or not purchasing a commercial grade
PA would be a better long term solution. We will table that discussion until
October. It was also reported that the voice announcement for the club
Wednesday net needs to be adjusted due to the voice synthesizer creating an
issue with words running together. We are planning a maintenance day to check
the repeater building before winter, and will address the problem at that time.
Memorial Committee: No report.
Members in Distress: WB8ZOI is a bit under the weather and unable to get out to
the club meeting. And it has been reported the Reggie (KG4NXM) continues to
recover from his accident, and has been heard a few times on the repeater.
EC Report: No report from K8JPD, but it was reported that during a meeting with
the County EMA regarding the Toledo water crisis, officials were reminded that
they have the Amateur Radio operators to assist with communication if anything
similar were to happen again.
Membership: We have 45 members up to date on dues so far. Thank you for your
continued support.
T-Shirt Committee: No report.
Hamfest Committee: The winter hamfest on December 6 is still a go. Bryan has
worked out many of the details with village officials on parking and access. He
has also been working with the Delta 109 restaurant on discounts to attendees
and helping with ticket printing costs. We are going to need help with this
event from club members. We will need ticket sales, 50/50 sales, etc. Contact
Bryan for more details on this event kb8elg at hotmail.com.
Upcoming Events:
We have three service events on schedule, but I am trying to get confirmation on
them from the event coordinators. Please mark you calendar, and check for
updates in your inbox:
10/04/2014 Lockport Run / Goll Woods
11/08/2014 Keiser Half Marathon / Fayette
11/28/2014 Archbold Festival of Lights Parade
Good of Amateur Radio:
1. The OSPOTA Contest and end of summer Picnic was a huge success. We want to
thank everyone who stopped out to take part in the event, or just to say hi.
2. The Evergreen 5k was well attended. We had 7 club members to monitor the
course, which was the perfect amount. Thanks to all who took time out of the
Sunday to assist with this event.
Upcoming Hamfests;
10/05/2014 Madison Heights
10/19/2014 Kalamazoo
11/15/2014 Ft. Wayne (11/15 and 11/16)
12/06/2014 FCARC / Delta
Next Meeting: The next regular club meeting will be October 20th at the County
Administration Building second floor (same as the Drivers License Bureau), 152
S. Fulton St, Wauseon. The club meeting will be at 7:30pm.
