The Fulton County Amateur Radio Club Emergency Coordinator, Jim McBride (K8JPD),
is working on building an EC program for the club which will allow us to better
interface with local and county officials during an emergency requiring backup
communications. To assist in building the program, he is looking for help from
club members who are willing to be called on for assistance. He is asking us to
provide a list of equipment that can be used in the field, or from your QTH if
you have emergency power. To assist with this, I have put together a form, both
in a download-able PDF, and on-line, to help gather this information:
Web Form: http://k8bxq.org/tmp/ECForm.php
Or a PDF download you can send to K8JPD: http://k8bxq.org/tmp/ECForm.pdf
Please know that the information gathered will be kept confidential by K8JPD and
not published publicly.
As an example, then Fulton County experienced tornado activity several years
ago, we were nowhere near organized with any type of call list or who had what
assets for operating in the field. We are looking to improve our operational
ability based on the experience of that event. We know emergency assistance is
not why a lot of amateur operators participate in the hobby, but for those who
do are willing to step forward, we ask that you complete the Web Form and help
us build an EC program we have lacked for so many years.
