Hello everyone, here are some notes from the November 18th Club meeting:
The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm with 15 members in attendance. Minutes
from the previous meeting and the treasurer's report were read and accepted.
Committee reports follow:
Repeater Committee: A wellness check on the repeater site will be scheduled
within the next couple of weeks to make sure the shack is in good condition for
winter and to check all fittings and cabling. KB8ELG reports that DSL service
will not be an option since the best cost the local ISP could provide was more
then the limit the club members decided to set. For the interim, the 440 link
to the K8LI repeater is still planned to provide IRLP and Echolink services.
Memorial Committee/Silent Key: no report
Membership: we have 57 paid members. Thank you to all who continue to support
the club.
Hamfest Committee: no additional information is available at this time. The
venue we would like to use does not reservations until after the 1st of the
year, so once we have a date nailed down for our 1st ever winter hamfest, the
details will be provided.
Old Business:
1. We had another successful community event with the Kellen Keiser Memorial Run
in Fayatte. We had a great turnout from the club, and were able to help provide
continuous race updates to the coordinators.
Special Events:
1. The Festival of Lights parade will be on November 29th, and once again, the
Archbold Police Dept have requested our assistance. Plan on meeting at the
ConAgra parking lot by 5:30pm for details on were to setup along the parade
route. We will be operating on 146.460 FM.
2. The December club meeting will be replaced by our traditional Christmas
dinner outing to the Barn Restaurant in Archbold. This will be December 16th and
we are tentatively planning on 6:30 PM. The reservation is under Lindsay
Infante's name (K8LI), you cover the cost of your dinner.
3. Bryan Patterson (kb8elg at hotmail.com) is coordinating a visit to the EOC for
Fulton County with Heather Kost, our County EMA. He is thinking about a 10:00am
outing this Saturday, so please contact him direct to make sure it is still on.
Good of Amateur Radio:
Results are in for Field Day 2013. While we had out share of technical and
weather issues, we finished 34 out of 42 in the 6A category nationally, and 3
out of 4 in 6A category in Ohio. Not the best year, but as rocky as Saturday
was, it pulled together nicely for a great finish on Sunday.
Upcoming Hamfests:
12/08/2013 Harrison Township, MI (LCARC)
01/12/2014 Hazel Park, MI
02/02/2014 Elyria, OH
02/16/2014 Livonia, MI
02/16/2014 Mansfield, OH
Next Meeting: The next regular club meeting will be at 7:30pm on January 20th
at the County Administration Building (same as the Drivers License Bureau), 152
S. Fulton St, Wauseon. This is an Officer Election meeting, so be sure to attend.
