The following are meeting notes from the September 19th club meeting:
The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by KD8KBU. We had 18 people in
attendance. Minutes from the previous meeting were read by KB2AVN and accepted
as well as the Treasures report by KB8ELH. Individual committee and special
reports follow.
Education/VE Report:
The VE Team conducted a regularly scheduled testing session on August 27th in
Archbold. We had two people attending, one for technician, one for extra.
Neither passed and no new CSCEs were issued. KA8KDS reports we have several
people scheduled for the September 24th testing session. The session on the
24th will be held at the Delta Public Library at 12:00pm.
KB8ELG reported the Technician class is going well and the four people who are
attending are doing quite well with the curriculum. There will be a brief
review session this Saturday from 10:00am until 12:00pm at the Delta Public
Library, where we will have our monthly testing session.
Repeater Committee:
The new 4 bay antenna was installed in early September. A special thank you
will be sent out to J.T. and Dave Mohler for taking care of our antenna while
the 800MHz system was being installed at the hospital location. We have had
excellent reports on the antenna footprint. There were several problems
discovered with the old feed point and antenna which have been remedied as well.
With the new county system being installed, we have a high probability of taking
possession of the previous commercial repeater building at he tower site. This
leaves us with a spare building we were renovating for our equipment. We
decided to table the future of that structure until the next meeting. Some
options include selling the building for the costs of materials we have put into
it, or reusing the building for other club purposes. We'll hopefully have more
to discuss at the October meeting.
Special Events:
The Lockport 5k is October 8th. We will meet between 8:00am and 8:30am at the
Mennonite Church in Stryker. The quickest way is to head out 20A and take the
first left past the Fulton County line. That will take you all the way down to
the church.
With regards to the Christmas Dinner, we are looking at December 17th, 6:30pm at
The Barn restaurant in Archbold. KB2AVN is taking care of setting up our
reservation. We will keep you up to date if any of these plans change.
Other Miscellaneous Notes:
We will have the new logo ready very soon for our t-shirts and other apparel.
We are currently shopping around for vendors. The working idea is that we will
give them the artwork which will allow club members to order shirts and other
apparel directly. This also helps us avoid stockpiling a bunch of shirts.
On September 24th, There will be an Auction at 10:00am in Tedrow for much of the
radio tubes and parts from Nelles Roth's collection and business. More
information can be found at Whalen Realty and Auctions site:

Thanks to everyone who helped with the club booth at the Fulton County Fair this
year. We had a lot of foot traffic including HAMs from other counties who
stopped by to see us. The Fair Booth is one of the best ways we can provide
visibility to our organization, so thank you again for everyone who took the
time out of their days to make sure someone was there to answer questions about
what we do.
Upcoming Hamfests:
10/16/2011 Kalamazoo, MI
10/23/2011 Sterling Heights, MI
11/19/2011 Fort Wayne, IN
That's enough for tonight! I'm sure some things slipped through the cracks, but
we'll get those corrected another time.
