The bands have gone quiet and the antennas have been stowed away. Field Day
2011 is over and I think it was a pretty good success. We had fantastic weather
for the duration of the contest, the 6 meter band was open, and 10 meter yielded
great results as well. Thanks to all the people who helped with setup and tear
down, and everyone who stopped out to talk and observe. Despite a few minor
technical glitches with the wireless logging network early on (nothing lost
except a few hours of my time), we had a very efficient and compact setup for a
7A + GOTA. Here are some highlights from the logging we captured I'd like to share:
We ran a 7A class this year, along with a GOTA station
Total CW QSOs: 290
Total Digital QSOs: 150
Total Phone QSOs: 695 (77 GOTA)
Total: 1135
With bonuses and power multipliers, we have a preliminary score of 4050,
certainly up from last year.
A breakdown by station includes:
GOTA (KD8JBS): 77
W8AN: 290
KD8KBU/KC8ZBC: 152
KC8UOM/KB8GOM: 222
AB8RC/KB8ELG: 188
KG8XG: 37
KC8BJH: 107
K8LI/KB2AVN: 62
We worked 48 states and 4 Canadian provinces. We logged QSOs on 6 of the 12
available bands (160 was quiet and no logged VHF/UHF contacts on 2 meters and
above).
Let me know your thoughts on this Field Day and how you think we could improve
for Field Day 2012 (kd8kbu at arrl.net <mailto:kd8kbu at arrl.net>).
Last, if you have photos you would like to share, please pass them along to me
and I'll get them on the club website.
