Here are some notes from the July 18th club meeting:

The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM. We had 18 club members in attendance,
and 4 guests. Minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted, as well
as the Treasurers report. Individual committee reports follow:

Education/VE Report:

The CE Team reported we had conducted a testing session on June 25th at the
Field Day event site in Tedrow. We had three individuals show up for testing
and passed two out of the three. Testing for July resumes at the Archbold
Police station. We have one person scheduled, so walk-ins are now welcome.

We have confirmed our reservation with the Delta Public Library on September
10th and 17th for a two day Technician Class. KB8ELG has indicated we have
three individuals interested in taking the technician level class. The class
will be 10:00am to 2:00pm both days, with a special testing session to follow
tentatively on the 17th at the Delta Public Library. I will have more
information on associated costs coming very soon.

Repeater Committee Report:

Weather permitting, we are considering this coming Saturday/Sunday (23/24) for
work at the repeater site. The task list includes: installation of the new
antenna, finishing HVAC to the new shack, power run to the new shack, and
finally equipment migration. During this time we will activate the backup
repeater on the same frequency, so coverage may not be as wide spread as usual.
Please listen in to the local Nets on the K8BXQ repeater for further details
and times. We want to get an early start due to the heat, so the day may being
around 7:00am if not a little earlier. If we see high winds or excessive heat
warnings for the day (not to mention rain), we may postpone to a different weekend.

Field Day Committee Report:

We had two nice write-ups (that we are aware of) in the Delta Atlas and the
Archbold Buckeye. Both indicating the success we had at Field Day. We files
our report last weekend, claiming 4,160 points. Further statistics and images
can be found at the Club website: http://www.k8bxq.org/node/65

In recognition of the Roth family allowing us to use their property for our
events, we unanimously approved purchasing three picnic tables for the woodlot,
to replace some of the older weathered tables already there. Thanks again to
Jim Roth for his continued support of the Fulton County Club.

Special Events:

The 2011 Delta Chicken Fest was a success. We have some pictures of the event
at the club website. The Delta Police personally thanked us for our efforts in
assisting with the Grand Parade on the Sunday. They were very impressed with
our organization and reporting on the parade status and have asked us to come
back next year. On a positive note, the club received a donation of radio
equipment from the Delta Police department on the condition it be used for club
purposes and not resold. This will work out very well for emergency field
equipment and go kits.

On the topic of the parade, we had a brief discussion on whether we would like
to have a float in the Delta parade next year (and perhaps other local county
parades as well). A committee is being formed to investigate the possibility of
this. We think it would certainly help get our name out to the community.
Ideas and thoughts on this matter would be appreciated!

The Fulton County Fair is coming up as well, Sept, 2nd-8th. If you are
interested in helping out, please e-mail me back. We will report more on this
as the event draws closer.

Other Miscellaneous Notes:

We have a handful of t-shirts left over, once those are gone we are going to
look at the next design with an updated logo and messaging. We are currently
letting the old stock go for $10/shirt. You can contact Lindsay (K8LI) for
details on those (lindsayinf at yahoo.com).

On September 24th, There will be an Auction at 10:00am in Tedrow for much of the
radio tubes and parts from Nelles Roth's collection and business. More
information can be found at Whalen Realty and Auctions site:

August Hamfests:

08/06/2011: Angola Hamfest
08/13/2011: Lima/Fair Radio Hamfest

That's it for now, I'm sure there are other items that I might have missed.

73,
