The club has has been invited back to the Delta Chicken Festival this year. A
major change is that we will be setting up our club table and radio rigs with
the Delta Police and Fire & Rescue. This is a huge deal since we are being
presented to the public as part of the county's emergency responders. Another
honor is that we will be right next to a piece of the world trade center. We
will be assisting with the parade on Sunday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm as well. The
Delta Police were very impressed with how well we assisted in managing traffic
and would like our help again this year. The Chicken Festival runs July 8th-10th.

We are looking for assistance in manning the club table, as well as help with
parade traffic on Sunday. The parade is about two hours, starting at 2:00pm.
If you can assist with setting up barricades at designated intersections, please
plan on being there around 1:00pm for assignments. Remember to bring sunscreen
and a hat (that afternoon sun can be brutal), water/beverages and an HT if you
have one (if not, we have a few spare 2m HTs). With regards to the club table,
we will have the club HF rig setup, as well as a VHF rig, so you can make some
QSOs if you care to. There is no formal sign-up schedule, but if you have a
time slot you would like to man the table (perhaps 1-2 hour blocks), let me
know. I imagine the table can be closed down early evening on Friday and
Saturday, and open around 10:00am or 11:00am on Saturday/Sunday (I'll try to
nail down real time lines this weekend). If you are interested in helping out,
please contact me at kd8kbu at arrl.net <mailto:kd8kbu at arrl.net>.
