Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, December 13, 2006
The meeting was held at the Fire and Emergency Services Building
in Landover, Maryland. President Mary (N4TCI) Morris called the
meeting to order at 8:04 pm.
Eleven people attended the meeting and introduced themselves.

-- Secretary's Report:
- President Mary (N4TCI) Morris distributed the November
meeting minutes. The minutes were approved as submitted.
-- Treasurer's Report:
- Acting Treasurer John (K3RGB) Chitwood distributed the
Income and Expense report and Balance Sheet.
A discussion ensued with respect to K3RGB continuing to
act as the temporary treasurer. All questions
regarding the complications of the treasurer's job were
resolved to his satisfaction.
-- Scholarship Report:
- President Mary (N4TCI) Morris read notes from Hugh (W3ABC)
Turnbull outlining the details of the scholarships.
- Scholarship chairperson Diane (AA3OF) Zimmerman reported
that the web page, <http://www.amateurradio-far.org/> has
been updated and scholarship information and applications
are available electronically by sending a request to
<Scholarships at Farweb.org>.
- Scholarship chairperson Diane (AA3OF) Zimmerman attended
a meeting of the Montgomery Amateur Radio Club and gave
a FAR Scholarship presentation.
-- ARRL Report:
- ARRL Maryland-DC Section Manager Jim (WI3N) Cross gave the
ARRL report. He suggested watching the section news link
on his home page, <http://www.arrl-mdc.net/>.
-- F.A.R.Fest Report:
- HEMARC trustee Chip (W4PBG) Weems distributed a summary
of the thoughts and recommendations his club's members
had regarding future FARFests and their opinions about
the Foundation in general.
- The Foundation's Board of Directors and the FARFest
Committee reported on their meeting regarding the future
of FARFest.
1) The solidification of a site for the 2007 FARFest
must be made by the next FAR meeting on February 14,
2007. If this has not been completed by the required
date there will be no FARFest in 2007.
2) FAR has agreed not to sponsor an ARRL MDC Section
Convention in 2007 in order that the ARRL be given
adequate time to engage an alternative site for the
convention.
-- Election:
The candidates for 2007:
President - Dan (KA8YPY) Blasberg
Executive Vice President - William (W3QX) Hatfield
Vice President - Hugh (W3ABC) Turnbull
Vice President - Diane (AA3OF) Zimmerman
Treasurer - no candidates
Secretary - no candidates
A motion was made by acting secretary Al (KZ3AB) Brown and
seconded that the slate of officers be accepted by unanimous
consent. The motion carried without exception.
Congratulations to the newly elected officers.
-- New Business:
- There was no new business.
-- Announcements:
- BARC will hold a mini-fest at the Maryland State
Fairgrounds in Timonium on Wednesday, January 31
from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
- HEMARC will begin its amateur radio training cycle in
January. The 2007 Technician class will start on January
9th, and go until February 20th. Examinations will be
given on February 27th. For information, look at

The meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
The next Foundation for Amateur Radio meeting is scheduled
for Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 8:00 pm at the Fire and
Emergency Services Building in Landover, Maryland.
Please note: FAR meetings will be held only in Maryland
on the even numbered months.
Everyone is invited to attend.
