      Hi Everyone, I received an email today from William, W3QX,
asking if I could list for you some of the forums already promised
to us for the MD State Amateur Radio Convention.

      So in compliance, like a FAR rep from the Antietam Radio
Association might be expected to do, here will be your list of whats
up as we currently see it.

      Bear in mind that we have forum invitations out to a half dozen
others for potential forums and that this list is not the final list
of what forums will be presented, however, this does represent what
we expect to have available at the present time.

      One recent change has been to expand the convention yet another
half hour to 45 minutes.

      So here is the current timeline for the event in Hagerstown at

            Ottrerbein Church,
            108 E. Franklin St
            Hagerstown, MD

            July 29, 2006.

            8:30 AM or thereabouts  Registration

      (There will be a $5 donation admission to the convention. )


      *** 9 AM Forums to choose from (current list)

      The Golden Age of Shortwave Radios ... a look at some of those
great boat anchors from the early days of Commercial Radio Gear will
be presented by Eldon Geiman, KA3ZKT

                          and
      The YL System- Its more than just another net
Primary Presenter will be Bill Drager K3UMV with possible assistance
from others of the YL-ISSB


      *** 10 AM Forums to choose from  (current list)

      Software Defined Radio (the new kid on the block)
Presented by Carl Morris WN3DUG

                          and
      Youth In Amateur Radio
Presented by the AARC, JR KI3DS and hosted by Bob Rose AA3RR

      *** 3 PM  Keynote Forum from the ARRL
      This is the Final forum and will have no competition from other
forums. Speaker not yet identified but will include time requested
by Jim Cross WI3N and Al Brown KZ3AB for comments on this first ever
MD State Amateur Radio Convention not tied to a Hamfest and what may
be the first of a travelling show to visit another part of the state
in its next appearance.


      Immediately following this forum will be the final Door Prize
Drawings and then the Final Activity of this year's convention

      *** A Caravan of those interested will motor to Rose Hill Cemetary
to the Gravesite of Hiram P. Maxim. There the ARRL Officials in
attendance will have a short memorial service for the Original W1AW,
HPM, the old man himself who was a co-founder and first President of
the ARRL.


    Please note the convention is open to amateurs from anywhere to
attend. Surprisingly we have heard that a ham in CT is considering
his attendance. Can you believe that. Whatever happens, being a
first, this convention will hold a little part in MD's amateur radio
history. Camera's will be allowed for those who wish to record some
of the historical aspects of this event.
