If you make the last part of your approach on the Interstates for a 
US Route 1 exit at I 495, you can get info from the Wilson Br lane 
closure page

I approach on GW Parkway into Alexandria and when I get to about Duke 
Street, turn right to US Route 1 south.  No Interstate.  No bridge. 
Less pain.
