Dan:

Is the gatekeeper slot from 0800-1200 Sun. @ Chestnut or Pinoak still
unstaffed?

Need to know so VWS can send out its newsletter tomorrow.

How many are needed to cover each?

Do they just check in at those posts and get the change, etc. handed off to
them?

Subject: [FARReps] FARFest Volunteers

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are five days away from F.A.R.Fest and we still need at least 53
volunteers for ticket sales alone.

For an organization that has 45 "member" clubs, why have only eight
clubs stepped up to provide support as a club? Those clubs are:

Baltimore ARC
Laurel ARC
Washington Adventist ARC
Mt. Vernon ARC
Historic Electronics Museum ARC
Montgomery ARC
Carroll County ARC
QCWA Vic Clark Chapter

In addition to the above, two clubs have sent their regrets that they
are unable to provide manpower resources, but one of those clubs made a
monetary donation in the amount of $100 in lew of manpower support.

To the above mentioned clubs, I would like to say thank you for your
support of this event.

That leaves 35 clubs by my count, that have yet to step up as a club or
even respond to the requests for volunteers. How many clubs are even
aware of the request as it was sent out? How many representatives have
taken the requests to their clubs?

I have a hard time listening to a club talk about how they have 200+
members but can't even provide four (4) volunteers to cover a time slot
at a gate.

If I belonged to any of these clubs (and I do) I would be upset (I am)
that a club that has less than 20 members is able to provide five (5)
volunteers to cover half of two separate time slots.

Every club and FAR Representative has known since May that this hamfest
was coming. Everyone has been talking about it and wanting to attend
it, but no one wants to support it. Clubs have asked (and received)
their "free" table at the hamfest, where is their volunteer support for
the Foundation?

There are 45 "member" clubs and 40 or so FAR representatives, I
currently have nine (9) representatives that have volunteered in some
capacity with the hamfest, where are the other 30? If I see a FAR
Representative at the hamfest that has not volunteered, do not be
surprised when I ask you what you are planning to do at the hamfest.

Maybe it is time to revisit what the roles and responsablities of a FAR
Representative is? Maybe it is time to start charging a membership fee
to a member of FAR? After all. "member" clubs ask for and receive their
free full page ad in Auto Call and their free table at the hamfest, but
then some of these same clubs do not have the time to support the
Foundation. Perhaps it is time to determine what constitutes acceptable
support?

Below is the current list of volunteers and what is needed and when.

53 volunteers folks, that is what is needed for tickets and gates,
another 20-25 for set-up and clean-up. Who will provide them?

First come, first served.
