I would like to invite you and anyone else from FRAC to join us at CCARC field day we will be setting up at GAMBER fire department field grounds. Quickest way to get there is take rt 26 out of frederick then take rt 32 north out of eldersburg and a couple of miles later you will see the Gamber volunteer fire department on your right we are set up behind them. There has been some talk in the past that maybe we should join forces to do field day. My thoughts are you can look our place over see what we have going and maybe consider a joint effort next year. OH and gladly work some qso's. Anyway Brian let me know what you think. By the way great callsign. I got the vanity call sign KC3RW kc was kerri intials before we got married and rw are mine. regards ray On Wed, Jun 10, 2015 at 5:11 PM, Brian Rozelle AB3RW via FARC < farc at mailman.qth.net> wrote: > Don't forget the FARC 2m net tonight at 19:00 on the .640 repeater. I have had a Monday night commitment come up and I've decided that I'm really "all done" with ARES and RACES. A quick rough calculation, starting in 1960 when I joined ARES/RACES until now, I have either been NCS or a checkin to approx. 2,500 nets. That's 55 years of ARES/RACES this year! As I get ready to turn 70 this year I am taking a hard look at all my various committments. I was responsible for converting the Montgomery County RACES from old AM Gonsets to FM and getting the EOC licensed by the FCC as WA3YOO. When I came to Frederick County in the mid 70's I got an all new 75W Kenwood station paid for by the county installed at the EOC and got the county to house the FARG 448.425 repeater in the county building and antenna tower. Back in the 80's when FARG had a motor home ham station I was the main driver and went to many a hamfest to procure all the ham gear that went into the motor home. I was the EC/Radio Officer when I set up the first comm event for the Mountain Club of MD hike on the Appalachian Trail back in the 80's. I think I've had one of the longest and productive volunteer "careers" for any one ham to enjoy with the RACES/ARES folks. Although I don't intend to be running any more Monday night nets, should you need any help with any event I would be glad to help either as NCS or participant. I will always consider myself an ARES or RACES member at large. As I can find time, I will still check into your Monday nets from time to time, just not regularly or frequently. I wish you all the best Jeff. 73, Rick N3RO From farc at mailman.qth.net Wed Jun 24 10:35:26 2015 From: farc at mailman.qth.net (Philip Karras via FARC) Date: Wed, 24 Jun 2015 14:35:26 +0000 (UTC) Subject: [FARC] N3RO RETIREMENT FROM ARES/RACES In-Reply-To: <005d01d0ad14$4fa3f240$eeebd6c0$@comcast.net> References: <005d01d0ad14$4fa3f240$eeebd6c0$@comcast.net> Message-ID: <1387266378.314471.1435156526825.JavaMail.yahoo@mail.yahoo.com> Rick, When I first became a ham and entered emergency service in Carroll County back in 1992 - 1993, you were there. (KB3AEG in June 1992, KE3FL later in 1992, Extra still KE3FL in December 1992, joined CARET Carroll Amateur Radio Emergency Team either in late 1992 or early 1993, I can't remember! Became ARES NET liaison for Carroll County ARES to both Frederick and Montgomery counties I think in 1993 but it could have been later when I became the EC for Carroll, I didn't write any of this down. I now think I should have!) We've been doing events together ever since. You've been a wonderful mentor & Elmer to many I'm sure and were always there for me when I had a question or two. Good-luck in your future endeavors.
