Hi,

I operate an equestrian sports venue in Adamstown. We recently bought ten programmable dual-band radios and are having trouble programming them to match our existing set of radios. We have a list of frequencies and tried using the CHIRP program to set them up, but we couldn't get them to work. None of my staff know enough about radio operation to get this done, and our usual radio person is unavailable.


I am hoping your group has or knows of someone who might be able to help us with these. We'd like to be able to start using them by end of September. Any help or suggestions on who else to contact would be greatly appreciated. My number is 301-514-0111.

Subject: [FARC] Tour de Frederick SAG hams still needed!

We still are in need of 4-6 more hams to ride in SAG vehicles for the Tour
de Frederick on Aug. 15th. This a major public service event with more than
600 riders!  For the SAG vehicles, you'll be riding shotgun with a race
volunteer, and you'll need a 2M rig with a cigarette lighter/accessory plug
and a mag mount antenna. If you don't have a mag mount, the club has 3 to
lend. 

 

We're looking for 1-2 hams per shift per route. ARES membership is not a
requirement to participate. Deployments will be from the Delaplaine Center,
40 South Carroll St., Frederick.

 

Shifts are:

 

100 mile route

 

0600-1130

1130-1500

 

60 mile route

 

0630-1100

1100-1500

Mark & Jeff:

There is going to be parking near and around the Delaplaine, but I suspect
that later in the morning the close in parking will be used up.  There are
going to be 600 riders plus probably 50 support people, and family milling
about.  The first riders will be returning starting about 11am.

So plan on a little extra time to park and make your way to the volunteer
check in area.  NetControl should be adjacent to the volunteer check in
area inside the Delaplaine.  So come on over and say hi.

Hello! Hopefully this works! I live near Harpers Ferry and am interested in learning about amateur radio. I've been search for days online for contact info but every source is for people already "in the know"! I'm getting very discouraged but I haven't quite given up because I think radio is super neat.

Basically, I'm trying to find a way to learn about what it would take to become an amateur radio operator. I don't know anyone who is one already but I'm drawn to it!
