[FARC] What's a good HT?

Jeff:
I have purchased a number of the Baofeng portables...all JUNK with the
exception of the UV-B5 UV-B6 radios.
I confirmed with the Baofeng U.S. distributor that this is a *totally
redesigned* model that has a good receiver.
All the other portables that I've tried from them have a very broad
front-end and are susceptible to overloading/intermodulation.
Checking the transmitter specs reveals a much cleaner spectrum - a caution
when using a power amplifier with the lesser units.
I've been using a UV-B6 for over a year and have not had the first issue.
Updated firmware makes programming easy as it's straightforward in all
respects.
If you don't want to use the FT-8900 for this, check out the RadioTone
cross-band repeater adapter that can connect two portables together for the
least expensive option to cover your dead spots.

I've never used it, but have heard good reports on the RadioTone.
