All of us by this time should be aware of the impending weather unless of
course you been dwelling under a rock somewhere. Although we are all hoping
that the storm largely slides by us, we all know that the better preparation
we do now will limit the impact later.
If you have not done any preparation today is the day to do it. Food,
water, emergency power if you have it, flashlights, batteries, medications,
and all of the other day to day needs in the event of a power outage or
other failure of infrastructure need to be accounted for. Many of us have
been preparing for the last few days.
Several of us volunteer on more than one front. Skywarn and Ares for
Frederick County Maryland would like to know if you are available over the
next 2 to 5 days if possible for augmentation in local communications
support.
We are all aware that many of us have jobs and other commitments that quite
often get in the way. Today, Saturday, October 27 is likely the best day to
let us know, as the potential for power outages looms large.
I am also going to post this on the front page of the FARC website along
with a link to the e-mail addresses for all of the coordinators in a single
e-mails. That includes: Skywarn and Ares coordinators and assistant
coordinators.
Please bear in mind that while the FARC website is hosted outside of this
area and will not likely be affected by any power outages the same cannot be
said for the local people receiving e-mail messages.
Our local repeater systems are likely resilient for a few days without
commercial grid power as many of them have backup power.
73's,
