I am sort of glad this happened, from what I can see it aided in making my decision in regard to membership. Acceptance is a two way street. 73s

I'm not a member of the FARC but I do consider myself a "friend" of the FRAC. I've given talks and I help out regularly with FRAC events such as bike-a-thons.
Since I don't live in Frederick county I've never joind the club. I support the Carroll County club, I live in CC, and I am an AEC for CC.
I have no problems with the information Herb has expressed but I think it could have been said in a more positive and friendly way. You want to encourage people to join not push them away.
Jim's message specifically says, "FARC Members" but frankly the term Herb used, "free loaders" is completely inappropriate. A better term would have been, "perspective members." If none of those people became members you have to stop and ask youselves, why?
Your attitude to all non-members should be one of helpfulness, and encouragement in the hopes that they'll see the club as something they'd want to belong to. I'd like to belong to it, but I have limited time and funds. Would I like to come along? Yes, if I had the time but I probably won't because I don't have the time. But my guess is that you've just chased a few perspective club members away, not a good thing.
Repectively submitted and IMHO.

Hello all.
This issue has come up before - this invitation to visit this site
"should only be extended to members or soon to be members" of FARC. If
they aren't members now along with the information that must be
furnished, they should also be given a MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION, fill it
out and give us $15.00 for dues subject to the club accepting
them!!!!!!!!! If NOT accepted their money will be refunded!!! There
should be NO exceptions.
The last time we had a lot of free loaders is when we toured the new EOC.
Jim, regarding my private data, I'll call you a little later today.
