It's still exciting making that first QSO. Two students made contacts today. We got the 80 meter dipole up about 40 feet this morning.
First contact on 40m was Herndon, Virginia. Operator was kind and interesting. It was a great QSO. Second contact was Italy also on 40m. Third contact was special. Belize on 17m. Operator there grew up in Bethesda and knew of the Bullis School. Now that's a small world.
The station runs 100 watts with a Ten Tec OMNI V with a small LDG auto antenna tuner with 4:1 Balun to ladder line. Loads well on all bands.
We'll see if radio overtakes robotics. Again, thanks for the donations and support. Contact me if you want to lend a hand. At some point I won't be able to make every meeting. The kids meet from 2:45pm to 5 or 6, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
It was covered by the school videographer. He does really good work and filmed over the last 3 days. The tennis ball launcher was a hit (thanks Joe).
