Frederick Amateur Radio Club (FARC) “Approved” Minutes For August 15, 2011
Meeting: The club meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm by President
Jim Ridgley
Introductions: See Attendees
Last Months Minutes: 7-15-2011 (Corrections - None ) Approved: YES
New Licenses: None
Upgrades: Lou Popowsky - “EXTRA”
Treasurer Report: No Treasurers Report
New Member Application(s): None
Old or Ongoing Business:
- Jeff’s Fishman Atomic Clock - Only one of four clocks is actually
slow. The clock seems to be “retarded” as evaluated be Jeff.
New Business:
- QSO Party - The club did not officially participate except for some
people individually. Jeff Fishman worked a station in Canada besides
several states and nearly a dozen counties in Maryland. The best contact
was with a station in Monteray, Mexico on 80 M at 5 Watts.
Committee Reports:
- Skywarn - Nothing new to report in spite of recent thunder and
lightning activity producing little rain. 0.40" of rain was measured in
a digital rain gauge by Herb Palm, little rain compared to the light
show and lots of thunder. Watch for Skywarn classes scheduled this Fall
season either on line or on the reflector.
- By Laws Committee - Nothing to report at this time.
- ARES
Triathlon -Never heard anything about the Triathlon at Spring Ridge that
was scheduled for August, 2011.
Bike Race in Utica Park - We have been asked to provide communications
for the bike race scheduled for October 8, 2011 and will be between 30
to 50 miles. More details should be coming from a planning meeting soon.
The base station will be at Utica Park with several stations at various
locations.
Win-Link’s Mike Miller will have monthly exercises for anybody that is
interested. Let Jeff Fishman know.
- RACES - No activities are scheduled during the Summer months.
- MISCELLANEOUS
The September’s program is supposed to be involving APRS but nothing is
known at this time. Herb Palm had offered to use his APRS radios for
demonstration purposes. He will contact Joe Durnal to find out the
status of what is planned for the meeting.
T-MARC Representative
Jim Ridgley asked who is the T-MARC representative from FARC. Jeff
Fishman is shown on the web site as the representative and received an
e-mail regarding the current status of two repeaters in the area. Look
for something on this on the reflector.
- HAM Fests - For the latest information checking on line is recommended.
