The skywarn net has not been activated in the last month here in
Frederick. Two Winter Classes are
scheduled in Williamsport, MD on 9-21-2011 and Cumberland, MD on
10-12-2011. Basic classes are
scheduled in Upper Tract, WV , Washington, DC, and Leonardtown, MD, no

knowledge of the Weather Services Open House, usually in December.

The upcoming Cistic Fibrosis "Cycle For Life" Bike Races Fund Raisers
of 35 miles and 65 miles are
scheduled for 10-8-2011 in Utica Park, MD. Volunteers with 2M radios
are asked to participate, including
using APRS, if available, to provide communications from the base in the
park and SAG/Sweep vehicles
along the route. After CF September meeting more details will be available.

ARES can use this event as a yearly Simulated Emergency Test(SET) by the
Mutual Assistance Team(MAT),
as might be done for hurricanes and other emergency situations.

After hurricane "Irene" Joe Durnal made contact with the Section
Emergency Coordinator Steve Beckman -
N3SB, for the concept of ARES-MAT(Mutual Assistance Team) as a team of
ONE deployed to the Eastern
Shore after the storm to the Berlin Red Cross Shelter and was in contact
with various Eastern Shore ARES
Section Teams on 2M and 80M.

- RACES

Commex was cancelled due to hurricane "Irene".
