Frederick Amateur Radio Club (FARC) ”Approved” Minutes for October 17, 
2011 .

Meeting: The club meeting was called to order at 7:18 pm by President 
Jim Ridgley .

New Member Application(s): None

Old or Ongoing Business:

- HAM Fest on October 23, 2011 in Carroll County, MD

- Club Radio Station - Lou Popowsky, KB3RNT tested both antennas and 
replaced the connectors. Lou asked a question regarding the antenna coax 
connections that are unusual. He did not change that setup.

New Business:

- “CQ World Wide Contest” on all regular bands, October 29 & 30, 2011. 
(Work bands are not included)

Committee Reports:

- Skywarn

- Nothing new is going on. Storms that went around Frederick didn’t 
require opening up the NET by Jim Ridgley - N3HTA. Herb Palm - K3HCP 
sent out an e-mail on the reflector about the Quarterly News Letter for 
the Fall season with reference to upcoming classes. Jim has the most 
recent list of Skyward training for anybody to look at.

- ARES

- The Cistic Fibrosis “Cycle for Life” Bike Races Fund Raiser in the 
Utica Park area scheduled for October 8, 2011 was successful using the 
W3ICF - 146.730MHz repeater. HAM radio participants were Jim Ridgley - 
N3HTA , Jackie Fries - WB3KDS, Rick Odgen - N3RO, Jeff Fishman - KB3FIO, 
and Joe Durnal - NE3R.

- A Health Department “Medication Distribution” Exercise is scheduled 
for November 4, 2011. Volunteers are needed to staff three positions in 
Frederick County, at the EOC, West Frederick Middle School, and 
Linganore High School.

- RACES

- There was a COMEX meeting last week, date unknown, and Jim Ridgley - 
N3HTA will be attend another meeting on October 22, 2011. Look for a 
report on that.

- By-Laws

Jeff Fishman is planning to bring up the matter of revised by-laws in 
the next few months.

- MISC

- Jim Ridgley - N3HTA got an e-mail from Bill Horine - KA3HJC asking if 
any one of us are American Legion Members? There is an American Region 
Radio Club (Net). Anybody interested can contact Bill via e-mail at: 
bho7825 at aol.com

- Tour of the club station is still in the works. Waiting for a post on 
the reflector is very much anticipated.
