Frederick Amateur Radio Club (FARC) Minutes for __ May 16, 2011__

_Meeting:_   The club meeting was called to order at __ 7:14 pm __   by 
President  Jim Ridgley.

_Introductions:_   (See Attendees)

_New Licenses and/or Upgrades:_   None

_Treasurer Report:_    None

_New Member Application(s):_   None

_Old or Ongoing Business:_

- Skywarn Net -  The skywarn net was not brought up during storm weather 
conditions, having been not considered as warranted.

- Field Day -  Field Day is still planned to be held at the Frederick 
Memorial Hospital parking lot area on the top two decks.  As of today 
permission has not been granted for antennas to be on the top deck and 
amateur radio stations on the deck below.  This would only require a few 
parking spaces and not cause any parking problems for regular parking.  
Jeff Fishman was asked to get volunteers through the reflector.  An 
alternate location might be considered at the club station in the 
Frederick Independent Hose Company Fire House.

- ARES -  Activities of the "March of Dimes" walk around Baker Park, 
Frederick, MD on May 1, 2011 and the "Hike Across Maryland" from Penmar, 
Maryland to Harpers Ferry, Maryland on May 7, 2011 were great 
successes.  APRS radios carried by four hikers taking 10 mile sections 
of the 40+ miles coordinated to hike well.  Mobile and stationary 
stations works at various check points.

June 11, 2011 is scheduled for an eight mile Bike Race in the Damaskus, 
Maryland area.

Mid-August is proposed to hold a "Try It Now" Mini-Triathelon, with 
details to follow.

- By-Law Rewrite Committee - Membership of the revised committee now 
consists of Lou Popowsky, Mark Whitmore, and Jeff Fishman as chairman.  
Jim Ridgley will serve as ex-officio.

New Business:  There was no new business.

- Jim Gillespie brought in and demonstrated some radio equipment that he 
build himself.
