Joe (and FARC Members)

Glad to hear about your field day activities. I appreciate all you did to
get K3ERM on the air.

Our grandchildren were visiting this past weekend and I did not do much with
field day.I would like to tell the club what I did do.

Ten meters is my very favorite band and at 4:45 PM EDT on Saturday I
listened to ten. To my surprise I found activity on 10 CW. Operating from my
home, in 14 minutes I worked S.Texas, N. Florida, Quebec City, Illinois, E.
Massachusetts, and, would you believe it, W1AW in Connecticut which was
booming in and easily worked.

There were no "locals"...MD, PA,DC,VA... so the stations I did work were
probably Sporadic E short skips. I think ten meters is often "open" if only
there were stations there to send and receive signals! Anyhow amateur radio
never fails to amaze me.

I do not have six meter capability. Six could have been open.

Best of 73s to you all

Jim Gillespie, K3DQ

I normally count on myself as a big resource for FD, but my XYL is not
feeling well and doesn't think she'll be able to take the boys to the
Frederick Keys Scout night.

My sincerest apologies, but I I'm going to have to scale back the
field day operation to one rig and I'll need someone to cover from
about 5:30p to 7:30a.

Please give me a call 301 471 2943 if you can help.

Thanks & 73 de Joseph M. Durnal NE3R
