Below is an  announcement from the Loudoun County (VA) Office of Emergency 
Management ....  The training center is a short distance off US 15 at 
Leesburg. Be aware of  the prerequisite of Skywarn Basics 1   Jim Ridgley  N3HTA

On Tuesday,  February 15, 2011, the Loudoun County Office of Emergency 
Management will host a  National Weather Service Skywarn Winter Storm course.  
This course starts  at 7:00 p.m. at the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue 
Training Center Auditorium  located at 16600 Courage Court, Leesburg, Virginia 
20175, and will run until  approximately 10:00 p.m. 
The  training provided in the Winter Storm class is a good overview of 
winter weather  threats presented in the Mid-Atlantic area.  It is intended for 
all  audiences, but Skywarn Basics I is a prerequisite for this  class. 
Topics  covered in the Winter Storm class include:  
    *   Winter  hazards in this region  
    *   Winter  preparation and safety  
    *   Winter  normals and extremes  
    *   What  makes winter storms  
    *   NWS  forecasts and products  
    *   Role of  Skywarn and reporting
