                                                                    September 20, 2010

The Frrederick Amateur Radio Club was called to order at 7:00PM by president, Jeff Fishman, KB3FIO.

There were no new licensees and no upgrades in license class.
There were two new persons, Justin Brock, KB3VBS, and Bill Lazzaro, N2CF, new hams to our club.

Jim Ridgley, N3HTA, gave the Skywarn report aand said that we had a justifyable bad storm to
be mentioned in the skywarn report.
Jim gave information on Skywarn classes, none very near us.

The last ARRL letter mentioned that in New York State, laws against using cell phones while driving
DO NOT include ham radio thanks to ARRL legal service.

We were reminded that annual dues for 2010 are due if not already paid. Dues are $15/year.

    NEW BUSINESS:

Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is October 16-17, 2010

The club has been given a number of straight keys and other CW items. The club has decided to offer
these to club members and others at a very nominal cost. We hope these will be bought for individuals
for their own use and not be gobbled up for resale on e-Bay. These are straight keys, no paddles and no
"bugs". Included in the group is a railway telegraph sounder which has been tested and is fully operational.
For more details, contact Jim Gillespie, K3DQ.

Mark Whitmore, AB3KS, is cataloging club equipment and needs to include any equipment you may have
    in your home.

ARES Report: Orientation is required for emergencies with the Red Cross. This is a simple training program. It is no longer required to get your financial status checked .

The Simulated Emergency Test (SET) for October 2 has been postponrd, Check the 06 repeater for info on a new date.
