All: By way of reminder... the Frederick County (MD) Skywarn Subnet is
associated with the National Capital Skywarn Group...
A new web site has been created for the National Capital Skywarn Group
(through the Sterling, VA NWS office). The site is www.wx4lwg.org . I think
the site is great! Take a look at it, go back often and keep a check on
the training classes and other weather related info being offered.
A note on training... there may be a Net Control Training Class being
offered in the Baltimore area in the very near future. I have nothing absolute
yet, only a "comment" in the Advisory Committee Meeting earlier this
month. Keep a watch on the web site. I also copied an announcement regarding
Skywarn Recognition Day (see below). Making contact with numerous NWS
stations across the nation, especially on HF, sounds like a lot of fun.
-----------------------------------------
Hello all,
Skywarn Recognition Day (SRD) will be here at NWS Baltimore/Washington for
24 hours - from 7pm Friday Dec 3rd until 7pm Saturday Dec 4, 2010.
SRD was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American
Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions that volunteer Skywarn
radio operators make to the National Weather Service. During the day
Skywarn operators visit NWS offices and contact other radio operators across the
world.
For more information on SRD:

Our organizer for our local contingent of SRD will be our Skywarn Amateur
Radio Coordinator, Virginia Legowik. She can be reached at:

Thank you to all of our Skywarn spotters!
