Frederick County ARES/Emcomm will be conducting a county-wide digital
exercise for all interested hams on Sat., April 25, starting about 0930.
This is part of a MDC Section-wide exercise to test the various digital
modes for disaster response. In Frederick County, we will be using the K3ERM
station at Independent Hose Co. as net control and would like to try at
least two or three RF only modes to establish communications between net
control and simulated evacuation shelters. You can choose the name of a
nearby school to use as your simulated shelter location while operating from
your home QTH or mobile station.

We plan to make this a fun learning experience, and will probably only be
requesting basic responses such as weather conditions, number of evacuees at
your shelter, etc. The modes that have been discussed include basic Packet,
APRS, PSK-31, Olivia, MT-63, Pactor, etc.

Please contact me if you would to participate and what digital mode or modes
you would recommend we use within the county. Again, this is open to ALL
interested hams in or around Frederick County. ARES membership is not needed
to participate. Thanks.
