All,
This Friday, October 2, 2009, is our first Friday of the month luncheon,
1130, at the Golden Corral restaurant in the FSK mall complex. You can
practice how your would celebrate eating for Halloween !
A few weeks ago we lost Ray Poulin, W3UT, who was a member of the
Frederick Amateur Radio Club and the Frederick Amateur Repeater Group
for many years. As per his wishes, he has some Amateur Radio equipment
for sale and he wants the proceeds to go to the radio clubs so we will
divide the proceeds between the two clubs.
Radios:
TenTec Omni V
Ten Tec Scout with 80,40,30 and 10 meter plug in modules.
Heathkit 2 meter synthsized radio
These have all been check out with lab quality equipment and meet mfg.
spec as near as we can tell.
Ray's son called this week and said he found 3 portable radios so I will
list them as we find out what they are and he is going to look for any
manuals he can find on the above equipment.
I have an Omni V and it is one of the best CW radios made and if we
can't find the manual you are free to copy my manual if you buy the
radio that Ray had. I use it for digi hf and it has a vox input and
audio out RCA type connectors on the back that will go directly to the
line/mic in and line/audio out from sound cards although I use isolation
audio transformers between the radio and computer, that is advisable.
You don't have to worry about a serial PTT this way and the audio out is
after the filters and band pass adj so you have that capability to
refine the audio signal from the radio to the sound card on rx.
There are many odds and ends that will delight those that build antenna
tuners and other home brew equipment that we will hopefully be selling
this Sunday at the CARA hamfest at the Howard County Fair grounds. Look
up the tailgate spot with Phil, W3ICF and , W3FDK. Also I hope to have
up, depending on the wx, my 80-10 mtr portable field antenna and it
sticks up in the air 40 ft so you can't miss that. I want to demo FLDIGI
and check into the 80 mtr wpaNBEMS Olivia digi net at 1000 on Sunday
with my portable set up so hopefully I can do that for those of you
interested in digi comm.
Please call Phil, W3ICF, at 301.831.6472 if you are interested in any
of the radios listed above. We will also have them at the CARA hamfest
on this Sunday.
Hope to see you Friday if I make the luncheon,
Please keep Ray, W3UT, and his family in your thoughts.
