Subject: [FARC] SET Scenario for Saturday
All Frederick County amateurs are invited to participate in tomorrow's ARES
Simulated Emergency Test (SET) beginning at 0830. The scenario is a
simulated H1N1 flu epidemic affecting approx. 50% of the residents of the
county. Local hospitals are unable to handle the many seriously ill patients
and several local schools have been set up as emergency treatment
facilities/field hospitals. Hams are requested to choose a nearby school and
operate from their HOME QTH (or mobile) and simulate possible conditions at
that school as if you were there. Report on such things as number of
patients or health care workers at that location, requests for medicine or
supplies, number of seriously ill patients, etc.
We will be using the 146.730 (-) (141.3 PL) repeater with 146.580 simplex as
backup, and should be done between 1100 and noon. This is a great
opportunity to practice our emergency communication skills in a scenario
that could happen in the future, and ARES membership is not required to
participate.
