Here's a blurb on the MDC QSO Party coming up in August, courtesy of
Page Pyne WA3EOP of the ARA.

This is ARA's final year sponsoring the "fun contest", and Page is again
asking for FARC participation. In 2010 the AARC picks up sponsorship of
the event.

A FARC K3ERM station doesn't *have* to operate from the CAP, if that
facility is no longer available to the Club in August. K3ERM can pretty
much be at any single location, as long as the QSO Party rules for a
Club Station are met.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Greetings, I'm PAGE, wa3eop, and I'm writing you on behalf of the
Antietam Radio Association, the sponsor of the
2009 MDC QSO Party.
ARRL has declared 2009 as the Year of the State QSO Party. Because of
that we feel there will be more out of state
stations looking for MD or DC contacts than usual in this year's test.
The contest is August 8 and 9, 2009 and contest details including rules
are at www.w3cwc.org.
The modern version of this contest has always awarded bonus points for
contacting club stations and I'm hopeful that perhaps one of your
members could bring club station K3ERM again to the airwaves for a
couple hours during this year's activity.
Also more MD stations in general are needed too to help keep the bands
active that weekend. Activity should be on HF and VHF except for the
WARC Bands and 60 meters which are generally contest free.
In addition, your club station (or any members operating individually)
could earn a certificate for making only 50 qso points
minimum during this year's activity.
I'm hoping you will let me know if there is a chance your club will
participate this year.  I'd like to compile a list of clubs expected on
the air and post it at the qso party website a couple weeks before this
year's event. And it will give a little net recognition to those clubs
who will be supporting us this year.
By the way, next year the Anne Arundle Radio Club will take over
administration of the party, started initially we think in the late
1950's. ARA has administered it as of 2009 for the last 20 years.
73 and thanks for any efforts you can make as a club or individual on
behalf of this year's party.
