As the old saying goes: "Keep your eyes wide open and you ears to the ground" How can you do that? Oh, well. The bands are beginning to open. Last Thursday (June 26th) ten meters was wide open both on phone and CW. Late in the afternoon I worked France, Scotland, and Germany....pretty good since it would be early evening in Europe and ten meters was still open there.
This morning (July 4th) I tuned on the low end of ten meters and found QSOs on on CW. I worked two Minnesota stations, successfully working one of them with only 5 watts on my end. I heard very weakly E73M and worked him about 9:30 AM on CW. Not sure where E7 is but think it is Bosnia, part of what used to be Yugoslavia.
Everyone on ten meters was talking about going to six meters, saying that band is open. I can't work six m.
So, after so long a time with no activity, things are perking up. Listen every day on ten meters! If you hear beacons and do not hear QSOs, give out a CQ, either on phone or CW.
One more thing, a dxpedition is now active from St Barthelemew in the Caribbean. Listen for TO8YY, 160-10 meters, ssb and cw. A new DXCC country (?) I worked them last night on 20 meter cw. QSL via DH7YY or direct.
Keep listening and good luck.
