I spoke too soon on AGW Tracker. I tried to register it and the registration procedure wouldn't work. What I actually did by registering was buy it again without the registration taking place.
The designer of the program lives in Greece. When I bought the program I got an E-mail from him thanking me for purchasing Packet Engine Pro. I replied that I didn't purchase Packet Engine Pro I purchased AGW Tracker. He replied well you did purchase Packet Engine Pro and they're the same price so it doesn't matter. Who is on first, What is on second, I don't know is on third..... For example, the AGW Tracker REGISTRATION window says "Click on the OK Button To Register." But there is no "OK" button. The "ENTER REGISTRATION" button sends you to the purchasing manager's web site. "So what we have here is a failure to communicate."
The program also has an "AUTOMATIC UPDATE" feature where I have to press a button and it goes out and checks for updates. Automatic? So I clicked on AUTOMATIC UPDATE and got an "ERROR ACCESSING" message.
The program has many inconsistencies, misspellings, and obvious Greek-English translation problems in the user interface. Where is DOS when you need it.
While the program appears to be running APRS correctly, I would have no way of knowing if it does or not. I guess someone would tell me if I took the APRS nationwide network down.
And I actually did download a version of Packet Engine Pro for evaluation and it wouldn't work correctly with my soundcard.
Hold off on using AGW Tracker or any of the other George Rossopaulis software for awhile.
