For anyone who wants to experiment with old 1200 baud Packet and doesn't have a TNC or Terminal software there is an alternative. You can use AGWPE and AGW Terminal.

I was talking with W3HNL Dick and the 10 meter group last night and I thought this might be a good alternative for him since he was having some hardware problems with a TNC.

While these programs will function as software TNC and terminal program, you still need a push-to-talk interface for your transceiver which some of you may have built already for other applications. The RigBlaster series of interfaces will work for this, as well as SignaLink and others. Of course by the time you buy a RigBlaster Plus interface you could have bought a new TNC for the same money so there we are.

AGWPE and AGW Terminal work fine on Windows XP, I can't say for any other Windows Operating system, I haven't tried it. AGWPE and AGW Terminal are Hamware and thus free downloads.
