Scott,

I'm not sure what you're saying, but the patch (KB958644) is a real, 
valid MS patch, which, as David M. already noted, may have already been 
automatically installed on your system by Windows Update.   Lots of 
hoaxes out there, but this one hasn't showed up on Snopes or any of the 
other "truth in computing" sites. 

(Now some folks I know insist that Windows itself is a virus and the 
work of the devil besides, but that is another topic.)
