Frederick County ARES will participate in this year's Simulated Emergency
Test (SET) this Saturday starting at 1000 and going until approx. 1130. The
scenario is similar to the 2007 SET with a severe weather theme. Hurricane
Murphy has passed through the area with 90+ MPH winds and flooding. Power is
out throughout the area and all repeaters are down due to antenna damage.
All stations should be operational with emergency power on 2M simplex. You
are requested to report on the simulated effects of the storm on your
neighborhood from your home QTH. Please have a few NTS message forms on hand
as a few stations may be asked to file their reports in this format.

We will use 146.580 simplex (primary), and 28.480 USB SSB (secondary) and
Net Control will either be at the Red Cross in Walkersville or at the FARC
shack at the airport. ARES/RACES membership is NOT required - just a
willingness to participate in emergency communications. Per QST, "Whether
you're a new licensee or an experienced radio amateur, the SET is a golden
opportunity to learn or practice useful skills in traffic handling, net
operation and emergency communications protocols and management".

If you have any questions, please contact me.
