Mr. Ray King*

Mr. Ray David King, 72, of Frederick, passed away Sunday, Nov, 23, 2008, 
at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 30, 1935, he was the son of 
the late Ray Singleton King and Mildred Catherine (Rippeon) King. He was 
the loving husband to Bonnie (Clingan) King.

Ray was a 1954 graduate of Frederick High School. During his life he 
enjoyed many different activities. He and his wife, Bonnie, loved RV 
camping. He was also a longtime league bowler. Earlier in life he bowled 
duck pins and then later he changed to ten pin bowling. He was a 
trapshooter, and over the years trapshooting became a family event with 
other families. Ray also enjoyed CB radios. He was also a member of the 
Frederick Amateur Radio Club for 25 years. He was a ham radio operator 
and enjoyed checking into the Old Buzzard's Net. He served in the 
National Guard, and was a member of the 29th Division Association of the 
Cresaps Rifles, Post 78.

At the age of 12, Ray started working for the Staley Store, a small 
grocery store on East Patrick Street. He continued in the grocery 
business as a meatcutter, working for Acme Markets as well as Safeway 
Stores.--In his retirement he continued working for F.E. Harrison and 
Son as well as working as a bus driver for the Frederick County Public 
Schools.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, Darrin King and wife, 
FayeAnn, of Union Bridge; two grandchildren, Grayson and Kennedy; two 
sisters, Catherine Hausler and her late husband, Harold, of Keedysville 
and Mary Cline and her late husband, Earl, of Frederick; brother-in-law, 
Reno T. Clingan and wife, Diane, of Layton, Utah; sister-in-law, Cherry 
Fagan; and brother-in-law, Charles W. Clingan and wife, Debbie, of 
Harpers Ferry, W.Va. He is additionally survived by numerous nieces and 
nephews.--

Mr. King is preceded in death by his daughter, Toni Rae King; infant 
brother, Ray S.; sisters, Emma Ridgley and Patricia Graham; in-laws, 
Reno and Bobbie Clingan; and a brother-in-law, Louis F. Fagan.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 
Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, 
where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, in 
the Etchison Memorial Chapel in the funeral home. The Rev. Jerry M. 
Cline will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mount Olivet 
Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in 
Mr. King's name to the Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Road, Mount
