Howard, Thanks for the words to the wise.
And now that you mention it, I do recall my old coworker Ray (KT4W back
then, now NM2O) mentioning maybe 8 or 10 years ago that there was a
charge for the chow at the W3LPL Open House. He was trying to convince
me to go check out the station and get involved in contesting with PVRC
even way back then. But I never did get out there since LPL Open House
day seemed always to coincide with our Hamfest Saturday setup day.
But the stars and calendar have aligned this year, placing the event the
week AFTER the Father's Day Hamfest. So I think I'll head out that way,
cash in hand, now doubly cognizant that there's no such thing as a free
lunch and knowing that a stop at Sun Nurseries will be REQUIRED if N3VOK
comes along (and maybe even if she doesn't ...).
