It isn't a bad radio at all - it is actually really good, I just like
the K3 a little better for the way I like to operate. The FT-2000D
actually seems to be slightly better with SSB - especially on the
transmit side, even at equal power, 100 watts, I get better audio
reports from the Yaesu than the Elecraft, and the Yaesu can do 200
watts, which really seems to make a differenc on 75 meters. The K3
has less internal noise that you can hear with the antenna off, with
the antenna connected, the Yaesu and the Elecraft sound about the same
at 2.7 kHz bandwidth, with the K3 sounding just a little quieter, but
as I narrow the filter, the K3 does a lot better, less noise, less
ringing, when I get to the 400 hz roofing filter on the K3, there is
almost no noise, you can really tell the difference. Obviously, down
to 400 hz is only good for CW/Digital, but that works for me! Another
thing I'll miss about the Yaesu is the 2nd receiver, it was nice
monitoring 10 meters while on 75, etc.
